Jae-Sang Hyun (Ph.D. 2020)
Jae-Sang received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Yonsei University in 2015. He joined the XYZT-Lab team in 2015 with experience in robotics, optics, and computer vision systems. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. focusing his research on the challenges of enhanced simultaneous accuracy and fast-speed of 3D shape measurements and geometric reconstruction. Jae-Sang spends his leisure time playing basketball and he pursues his hobby of photography whenever he can.
Xiaowei Hu (Visiting Ph.D. student)
Xiaowei is a visiting scholar in mechanical engineering. He received his B.S. in Control Science and Engineering from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in 2015, and he is currently pursuing his doctorate in the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University. His research interests include 3D imaging, computational photography and computer vision. He loves sports and photography, especially road cycling, and occasionally participates in amateur cycling races.
Michael Feller (M.S. 2019)
Michael is a senior in Mechanical Engineering who is currently enrolled in a combined B.S./M.S. program. He joined the lab in 2018 to research in his interest areas including optics, robotics, and controls. Outside the lab, he enjoys playing basketball, watching sports, and spending time with friends from his church.
Brian Acosta (undergraduate)
Brian is a Junior in Mechanical Engineering who joined the lab in Fall 2018. His research interests include 3D imaging, robotics, controls, and autonomous vehicles. When he’s not at school, Brian enjoys mountain biking, skiing, and hiking.

Jerry is a senior in Mechanical Engineering that joined the lab in Spring 2019. His research interest is 3D imaging, robotics, and controls. During his free time, he likes to go hiking and play badminton.

Saw is a sophomore in Mechanical Engineering, who is from Myanmar, also known as the “Golden Land”. His current interests include robotics, piezoelectric sensors, virtual reality, automated manufacturing system and mechatronics. Meditating, reading books and cooking are his hobbies
Professor Andres G. Marrugo (Visiting scholar)
Andres Marrugo is a Fulbright visiting scholar in mechanical engineering. Dr. Marrugo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering at the Universidad Tecnológica de Bolívar, Colombia, where he did his B.Eng. in Mechatronics Engineering. He received his Ph.D. in Optical Engineering and his M.Sc. in Photonics from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Spain. His research interests are optical metrology, computer vision, 3D imaging, and image processing for biomedical applications. He received the SPIE DCS Rising Researcher Award.
Professor Lenny A. Romero (Visiting scholar)
Lenny Romero is a visiting scholar at XYZT Lab. Dr. Romero is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Basic Sciences at the Universidad Tecnológica de Bolívar, Colombia. She received her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Physics from the Universidad Industrial de Santander, Colombia, and the Ph.D. in Optical Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Spain. Her research interests are optical metrology, visual optics, and 3D imaging for biomedical applications.
George Gayton (visiting scholar)
George is a visiting scholar from Nottingham University, UK, where he completed his Masters in physics. George is at XYZT labs to gain experience in designing fringe projection systems, and his interests include modelling (the mathematical kind) and ultimate frisbee.
Professor Min Zhong
Min Zhong is a visiting scholar in mechanical engineering. She received her master's and doctor's degrees from Sichuan university in 2015, and she is now an associate professor in Chendu University of Information Technology. Her research interests are optical three-dimensional surface shape measurement based on trigonometric measurement principle and that based on vertical measurement principle.

Fehrman
Garrett Fehrman is a senior in Mechanical Engineering. He joined the XYZT Lab to gain experience with autonomous vehicles and 3D imaging and has also worked with the HIRRT Research lab at Purdue. His interests include robotics, biomechanics, and autonomous vehicles. In his free time Garrett enjoys cooking, woodworking, and enjoying time with friends and family.
Andrew Bowman
Andrew Bowman is a senior in Mechanical Engineering. He joined the XYZT Lab in Spring 2020 due to his prior experience and general interest in 3D imaging and virtual reality. In his free time, he enjoys playing volleyball, coding, and hanging out with his friends.
Brandon Stark
Brandon Stark is a senior in Mechanical Engineering from Cleveland, Ohio. His current engineering interests include manufacturing, machine design, 3D imaging, and CAD modeling. In his free time he enjoys playing guitar, watching baseball, and spending time with his friends and family.

Sriram is a Sophomore in Mechanical Engineering from East Hartford, Connecticut. His current research interests are 3D image processing, autonomous systems, and machine design. He enjoys playing and watching soccer, swimming, and running in his free time.
Sohan Pramanik
Sohan is a sophomore in Mechanical Engineering who joined as an undergraduate researcher on Autonomous Vehicles in 2020. His current interests include robotics, virtual reality, and autonomous vehicles and want to explore 3D imaging, controls, and robotic technology. In his free time, he enjoys swimming, playing with electronics, and spending time with friends.
Ricardo Naon
Ricardo received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University in 2020 and will be returning to Purdue in the fall as a member of the Master’s in Engineering Management program. His interests include control systems with a focus on autonomous vehicles. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, mountain biking, and skiing.

Originally from Venezuela, Arnold is a Junior in Mechanical Engineering who joined the XYZT Lab in Spring 2021. His current research interests are machine design, 3D printing, and control systems. In his free time, he enjoys playing sports and working out.

Neha Pal
Neha is a Sophomore in Honors College and is pursuing her BS in Mechanical Engineering. She joined XYZT Lab in Summer 2021 to work on 3D printer with 3D vision sensor project. She wants to explore 3D printing, machine design and AI. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, playing tennis and calligraphy.
James Baxter
James is a junior in Mechanical Engineering from Pittsburgh, PA. He joined the XYZT Lab in the Spring of 2021 looking to gain experience in perception, path planning, and control for robotics. He has previously performed researched with the AIMS Lab at Purdue and is currently President of the Autonomous Robotics Club. In his free time, James enjoys learning woodworking, flying RC aircraft, and spending time with friends.
Keenan Fitzharris
Keenan is studying mechanical engineering with plans to continue to graduate school. He has participated in several different research projects as an undergraduate and holds positions in the Student Government and as an M.E. Ambassador. At XYZT Labs he is gaining experience in robot motion planning and hopes to apply this to autonomous vehicles, robotics, or virtual reality..

Grace Fowler
Grace Fowler is a sophomore in mechanical engineering. She joined the XYZT Lab in Summer 2021 as an undergraduate researcher on 3D printers. Her interests include design and coding and plans to study the intersection of these. In her free time she likes to go hiking, draw, or play board games.
Matthew Li
Matthew is a junior in Computer Engineering from Pittsburgh, PA. He is currently interested in image analysis and computer vision. He joined the lab to learn more about 3D cameras and image processing. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis and going on runs.
Caroline Blanchard
Caroline received her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University in 2020 and is currently pursuing her master’s. She joined the XYZT Lab team in 2020 to research in her interest areas which include controls and robotics. In her free time, she enjoys reading, playing soccer, and painting.
Adrian Lee
Adrian Lee is a senior majoring in Mechanical Engineering who joined the lab in Spring 2022. His interests include autonomous vehicles, robotics, machine learning, and sensor fusion. Outside of academics, he enjoys working on side projects and working out.
Lexi Loyot
Lexi Loyot is a freshman in First Year Engineering and is interested in Virtual Reality, Bio-Inspired Robotics, 3D Printing, and Hydroponics. In the XYZT lab, she is working on integrating live data from 3D image sensors into virtual reality headsets using Unity. Lexi plans on pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Visual Design Engineering.

Sara Lynn Sullivan is a sophomore majoring in Mechanical Engineering. She joined the XYZT lab in Spring 2022 to work on the hardware for the 3D imaging project. Her interests include mechanical design and robotics, and she hopes to better understand them through research. In her free time, she likes playing basketball, cooking, and spending time with friends.
Darren Lie
Darren Lie is a junior studying Mechanical Engineering with a minor in computer science. He joined the XYZT Lab in Spring 2022 to work on the software for the 3D imaging project. His interests include robotics, artificial intelligence, embedded/control systems, 3D printing, application development, autonomous systems, and computer vision. Outside of school he enjoys playing the piano, badminton, watching shows, and spending time with friends.
Bill Lynch
Bill Lynch is a sophomore in Computer Engineering who is interested in virtual reality and augmented reality. He joined the lab in fall of 2020 and is currently working on 3D video streaming to virtual reality devices. In his free time he enjoys playing tennis, skateboarding and hanging out with his friends..
Ethan Brown
Ethan is a junior pursing a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Computer Engineering. He joined the XYZT lab in the Spring of 2022 to work on an autonomous robot project. His interests include control systems, path planning and sensor fusion with an emphasis on autonomous mobility. In his free time, he enjoys working on side projects, biking, and spending time with friends and family.
Yuqian Hu
Yuqian Hu is a biology junior in the science department of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and joined the XYZT lab in Spring 2022 as a visiting undergraduate student on holograms & 3D printer techniques. His interests include biological engineering, mechanical design, economic markets behind these technologies, and artificial intelligence. His goals this semester are to learn something different and assist his teammates in achieving some innovative programs.
Manzhu Xu
Manzhu Xu is a senior in Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute majoring in biology. She joined the XYZT Lab team in 2021 and wants to develop skills in 3D imaging, holographic techniques and explore the topic of high-speed 3D imaging for micro and macro biological phenomena. She likes to write songs, paint and play games with friends.
Benjamin Holtmann
Benjamin is a junior studying Mechanical Engineering with a minor in business economics. He joined the XYZT Lab in Spring 2022 with a focus on 3D sensing and autonomous vehicles. His interests include machine design, self-driving cars, and fluid dynamics. Outside of school he enjoys skiing, playing soccer, and working out.
